Like most other Ruby Tuesday locations in the state, the Washington Twp. Ruby Tuesday had been offering to-go service following the coronavirus pandemic-related mandatory shutdown of all restaurant dine-in service announced March 15. The “Ruby Tuesday Vandalia” on Miller Lane remains open for carryout, delivery and curbside pickup for lunch and dinner daily, an employee said.

A spokeswoman for Ruby Tuesday issued the following statement this morning, April 1, regarding the closure:

“During these uncertain times, and after careful consideration, we have decided to close the Washington Township location in an effort to better position our restaurants for future business. We value the dedication and hard work of all our employees, and we greatly appreciate the community that has supported us. We will continue to work hard to make the Ruby Tuesday brand even stronger and better prepared” for when restaurants are permitted to fully reopen.

The Washington Twp. Ruby Tuesday opened in 2005. In its early years, the restaurant was bustling; it was not unusual to have to face a wait for a table during peak dinner service hours.

Frisch’s operated a restaurant there for many years before shutting it down and relocating it in 1993. A Perkins restaurant opened at the site for about five years before it closed in 2002, then its former manager went on to open his own place, RJ’s Metropolitan restaurant, at the site for about three years prior to Ruby Tuesday’s opening in 2005.
