“We are grateful to see this investment coming to the Northwest region of our city,” Vanessa Oliver Ward, president of the Omega Community Development Corporation, said in a statement Omega posted on Facebook about the ground breaking. “In 2005 the Omega Baptist Church purchased this 32-acre campus (formerly United Theological Seminary) and envisioned building a community center that housed needed services, a senior living facility, outdoor recreation, and a worship center to serve as an anchor of hope and revitalization to empower children and their families.”
The new building will be part of a larger campus revitalization planned on the former United Theological Seminary campus.
The site will also include the future “Hope Center for Families,” which will offer training, education, child care and other community activities and programs.

The apartments should be completed in 2020.
The Ohio Housing Finance Agency awarded tax credits in June toward the $13 million project.
