X-ray equipment will be set up to look for foreign or metal objects, such as needles or razor blades, that could be harmful if someone bit into them, Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger announced in a media release.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Miami Valley Crime Lab at 361 West Third Street in Dayton. Officials said an appointment is recommended and to make one, call 937-225-4156.

“It’s about keeping our kids safe,” Harshbarger said.

“The public hears horror stories of razor blades being in candy that their child received from Trick or Treating and this is a great free way to make sure that all the candy is safe from this hazard.”

On Friday morning, Colerain Twp. police in Hamilton County announced they were investigating reports of metal objects found in Halloween candy after Beggars Night.
