Roof collapses after fire breaks out in Dayton house

A vacant house was destroyed after a fire broke out early Saturday morning, according to Dayton firefighters.

The house in the 1900 block of Wesleyan Road was fully engulfed with smoke and flames when firefighters arrived on scene around 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators said the roof had collapsed inside the house before they arrived on scene.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Investigators said its too soon in the investigation to determine if the blaze was intentionally set or was an accident.

No injuries were reported.

FIRST REPORT

Firefighters are battling a house fire that broke out in the 1900 block of Wesleyan Road in Dayton Saturday morning.

Crews were dispatched around 6:30 a.m. and reported the house was fully engulfed in smoke and flames, according to initial reports.

It was not immediately known if the house is believed to be vacant or occupied.

Dayton police have been requested to the scene to assist with directing traffic around the scene.
