Suspicious fire damages 2 garages on Brooklyn Ave. in Dayton

UPDATE @ 2:25 a.m.

A fire damaged two detached garages on Brooklyn Avenue in Dayton, a blaze that investigators called suspicious.

Dayton Fire District Chief Tim Rose said when crews arrived one garage was fully engulfed in smoke and flames and had spread to the neighboring garage.

Each garage sustained around $3,000 in damages, according to Rose.

No injuries were reported.

FIRST REPORT

Firefighters are battling two fires in neighboring, detached garages in the 200 block of Brooklyn Avenue in Dayton.

Crews were initially dispatched just before 1 a.m. Monday and reported the first fire spread to the second garage when they arrived on scene.

A third garage might have sustained some damage from the fire, but was limited to melted siding, according to scanner traffic from firefighters.
