A firefighter from West Alexandria Fire Department said that water freezing was an issue in extinguishing the fire. Crews had had to pump water between two tankers to prevent it from becoming stagnant and freezing.
The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown.
The house was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.
