Cats perish in Kettering apartment fire 

UPDATE @ 7:35 a.m: Two cats are dead after a fire occurred at a Kettering apartment Friday morning.

OTHER LOCAL NEWS: Investigator called to Woodside Avenue house fire in Dayton 

Officials say they were called out to a reported fire on Croftshire Drive around 6:25 a.m. 

Crews found a working fire coming from one of the units when they arrived on scene. 

The fire, which started in the kitchen, was knocked down quickly and did not spread to any neighboring units.

It is not known if the apartment where the fire occurred was occupied at the time, but nearby units were evacuated for the incident. 

Damage estimates were not immediately available, but officials consider the apartment uninhabitable.

The fire remains under investigation.

Crews are responding to an apartment building on Croftshire Drive for a reported fire that occurred Friday morning.

Initial reports indicate occupants inside a unit in the 4600 block were being evacuated for the incident, which happened around 6:25 a.m.
