Cultural Center to host watercolor exhibit

TROY — The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will host the Ohio Watercolor Society’s 32nd annual Juried Exhibition’s opening with a reception and watercolor demonstration from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at the center, 301 W. Main St.

Chris Leeper’s demonstration, “Capturing Light,” will start at 2 p.m. in the Art Studio.

The reception and demonstration are free and open to the public.

The OWS’s exhibition includes landscapes, still lifes, portraits and abstracts by Dayton area artists Joan Clark, Louise Doorley, John Emery, Peter Frederick, Rosie Huart, Sharon Stolzenberger, and former Troy resident Angela Chang. The exhibition will be on display at Hayner through Oct. 4.

Leeper’s paintings have twice won the Ohio Watercolor Society’s Gold Medal Award.

The OWS also will sponsor the following demonstrations:

  • Sept. 6, "What The Heck Is Casein" by Leonard Williams;
  • Sept. 13, "Portraiture From The Model" by Homer Hacker;
  • Sept. 20, a slide program by Jeri Ellis Platt, "Capturing Haitian People in Portraiture."

Hayner’s open hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday- Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
