MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — The DSW Shoe Warehouse in the Dayton Mall will move later this month to the former Borders location in front of the mall, DSW District Manager Tom Zuffa said Monday morning.
The new DSW, in the center known as The Village at Dayton Mall, will be slightly larger than DSW’s current 20,000-square-foot store, but the sales floor size will be about the same, Zuffa said. The new location “fits our footprint a lot better” than the relatively narrow store inside the mall and will have the “new, fresh look” of DSW’s redesigned prototype store, the district manager said.
The current DSW location, which is in the mall but which has an exterior entrance, will close at the end of business on Feb. 21. The new store will open on Feb. 23, Zuffa said.
Dave Duebber, general manager of the Dayton Mall, said the space being vacated by DSW is targeted for redevelopment, and a prospective tenant has expressed interest in the site.
Borders closed its Dayton Mall location in 2011 after the bookstore chain filed for bankruptcy.
DSW Show Warehouse’s hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday will remain unchanged after the move, Zuffa said.
