Earlier in Tuesday’s meeting, Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley made a presentation to the school board about ways the city and school district could work together on grant money to fund after-school and summer education programs.
The city of Dayton about a week ago voted unanimously to place a 0.25 percent income tax increase on the ballot.
Both entities aim to use some of the money to expand preschool.
Whaley and Montgomery County Commissioner Debbie Lieberman co-chair the advisory committee for the county’s Preschool Promise, which is in its third year pushing preschool expansion.
Dayton school board president Adil Baguirov has said the city’s levy would not address after-school and summer-school programs that DPS wants to expand as part of its levy.
The deadline to put a levy on the November ballot is Aug. 10.
