Necropsies planned for dead dogs found in Dayton house, ARC officials say

Two dead dogs discovered Thursday evening in a vacant house under renovation on Parkhill Drive in Dayton will undergo necropsies as part of the investigation of their deaths, county Animal Resource Center officials said Friday.

Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Parkhill Drive after someone reported a finding the deceased animals.

Police and the Montgomery County ARC are working to find out how the dogs died.

Officers found a smashed out storm door propped open and a construction permit from the city of Dayton to the right of the door, according to the incident report.

“I went inside and observed a couple bales of straw on the south side of the vacant residence,” an officer wrote in the report. “There was only one interior wall remaining inside the house.”

Officers found one of the dead dogs by the straw. The second was in a cage covered by a black cloth.

A man who came out to the house told the officers he had been in a confrontation with the person who was fixing up the house over the dogs and how they were being cared for.

No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.

Police did as the animal resource center to investigate the case further.
