Dead end near Dayton Mall getting new life, Ohio 741 intersection planned

A residential neighborhood is expected to have greater access to Ohio 741, and an assisted living facility is planned near that intersection, as part of recent moves by Miami Twp.

The township plans to extend Vienna Parkway – which dead ends near Ohio 741 across from Cox Arboretum and north of the Dayton Mall – to the state route and sell about 14 acres where Trilogy Health Services plans a new facility, records show.

The road extension — which will include a traffic signal — and Trilogy proposal stem from a real estate deal last summer, when the Miami Twp. Community Improvement Corp. bought nearly 12 acres from Zengel Construction.

Zengel sold the land in July, records show. The sale followed three failed attempts to get an 80-home development in that neighborhood approved by township trustees.

The lack of traffic access to Ohio 741 was a factor in all three of those housing proposal rejections.
