The Animal Resource Center has cited the West Carrollton owner of a dog that bit a 4-year-old girl, according to police.

The girl, who suffered wounds to the face and arm, was a frequent visitor to the Home Avenue house where the dog lived, said Maureen Flaute, public information officer for the West Carrollton Police Department.

“She wasn’t bleeding very badly,” Flaute said of the girl. “But there was some blood.”

The name of the dog’s owner is not being released because the owner is not charged by the police department, Flaute said. The dog, described as a 6-year-old husky/lab mix weighing 40 to 50 pounds, was not taken by the ARC, she said.

It is being quarantined at the another residence, she said.

Police responded to the Home Avenue residence about 11:20 a.m. this morning, Flaute said. The girl was taken by ambulance to Dayton Children’s Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, she said.

Flaute said the girl and the dog were interacting when the dog bit the girl, who had been around the dog at least weekly for several months.
