Fairfield homicide: Roommate hadn’t seen victim in days before finding body in apartment

Police are investigating the March 13 death of a Fairfield man as a homicide.

Domingo Francisco, 38, of 23 View Court, was found by his roommate dead at 8:15 p.m. last month in his apartment on View Court in at the Fairfield Pointe complex, according to police.

After an autopsy of Francisco, the Butler County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, and it is being investigated as a homicide.

Police are looking for a man they’re calling an acquaintance who was with Francisco before his death at Bargos, a bar at the corner of Dixie Highway and Mack Road.

Fairfield police spokesman Officer Doug Day said the case is still under investigation, and information will be released as it becomes available.

Francisco’s roommate, who also lives with his wife in the apartment, entered his room after Francisco’s brother said he hadn’t been able to reach him.

“I have no idea of what happened,” said the roommate, who found Francisco after he returned home from work.

The dispatcher asked if Francisco was breathing and the roommate said, “I don’t think so because I saw his face. There’s a lot of blood in his face.”

He also said he didn’t believe it was “fresh.”

Because of conflicting work schedules, it had been three days since the roommate last saw Francisco.

Day said not all investigations are announced to the public, and this one has reached the point where investigators need the public’s assistance to identify the acquaintance.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation should contact the Fairfield Police Department at 513-829-8201 or Detective Larry Green at 513-896-6033.
