UD fans can help feed fellow Flyer fans in need

Stand4, a company started by two recent University of Dayton grads, has launched a program designed to help Flyer fans in need.

For every person who visits the company's website, www.stand4.com/dayton, and identifies himself as a Flyer fan, a local Dayton nonprofit will give a meal to another Flyer fan in need.

The program, which will last for the duration of the NCAA tournament, had 280 fans sign up during the first three hours on Tuesday.

Those who sign up as Flyer fans on the site will get to see the Dayton community member they helped, via an email.

Stand4 was started by 2012 UD graduates Andy Hill and Sean Johnson.

According to Hill, the company receives sponsorship from other companies to solve social problems affecting the world. Other projects the company is involved in include giving custom devices to people with disabilities and providing clean water to children in rural Cambodia.

"Our members dictate how we allocate our funds by standing for the initiatives they believe can do the most good," he said. "Everything that comes as a result of their stand is collected and showcased on their user profile, giving them the ability to see all the lives they've touched, problems they've helped solve, and overall impact they've made on the world."

Stand4 has more than 500 UD students impacting the world, without ever having to donate, Hill said.
