Female ‘unresponsive’ in back of crashed stolen car in Dayton

A female was found unresponsive in the back seat of a stolen car Wednesday morning shortly after the vehicle fled from officers.

The car, a black 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, had significant front-end damage after it struck a metal barrier around 12:30 a.m. in the 5500 block of West Riverview Avenue. according to a Dayton police report.

“Three of the doors were still open and the passenger side rear door was still shut,” police wrote in their report. “Inside of the vehicle was a smaller black female. The female appeared to be breathing, but unresponsive, and was not wearing a seat belt.”

The report is unclear whether the occupant was an adult or child, and officers were not able to identify the person yet, according to the report.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Clark County.

Officers said prior to finding the crash, the vehicle fled from them at the Caliph Court Apartment Complex when they attempted to stop the vehicle. Dayton police did not pursue the car.

Police searched in the area of the crash and did not find anyone else.

Investigators had the vehicle towed to Dayton’s evidence technician's garage “as a result of possibly having more criminal involvement.”
