OREGONIA — The history and culture of Native American Life will be highlighted during an upcoming festival.

Entering its 21st year, the annual event features various Native American traditions. It is designed with the intention of informing all of those who visit.

“Over the years, we have worked to create a premier event, educating the general public about Native American traditions and customs,” said Jack Blosser, site manager at Fort Ancient.

Between the storytellers, artisans, music, tours, and workshops, the festival becomes distinctively informative. This particular culture is easily brought to life through many aspects.

It includes crafts and games, such as tomahawk throwing and archery. The activities within the festival are an experience for all ages to enjoy.

This year, Fort Ancient is featuring dancers in full costume and four local drumming circles. Experiencing the traditional Native American Pow Wow gives unique entertainment to new and old visitors to the festival.

“Attending this event has become a tradition for many families, but there is so much to see and do that the event appeals to first-timers as well,” Blosser said.

Fort Ancient, an original historical site, is comprised of Native American mounds that date back almost 2,000 years. The grounds features many hiking trails and a museum.

The site thrives on preserving the natural history of Ohio. The festival makes an entertaining effort of presenting the Native American culture to modern-day life.

Events are scheduled to run for all hours of both days. Two-day passes also are available.
