Fourth-graders make models of molecules

SPRINGBORO — Carol Clune’s fourth-grade science class at Dennis West Elementary made models of molecules to demonstrate the difference between atoms, elements and molecules. The toothpicks represent the bonds that hold molecules together. The colors of the marshmallows represent the different types of elements. The marshmallows represent atoms of certain types of elements.  Students created different molecules based on formulas like H2O, NaCl and CO2.
