Fox Motors marks 100th anniversary

Fox Motors is celebrating a milestone year as the company marks 100 years in business.

The family owned business evolved from blacksmithing to automobile service.

“We are a complete automobile dealership,” president and owner Josh Fox said. “You can buy a car, have service performed, we also sell parts. We have everything you’ll get from the big guy. The advance to us is our level of service. We don’t look at our customers as a client we will only see once. We charge a fair price for a fair product or service.”

Fox’s great grandfather opened the business on Nov. 12, 1913 as Fox & Fox Miami Valley Machine and Auto Company.

A celebration will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 15 at RiverFront Park, 3 N. Miami Ave., and the community is invited.

“We wanted to have something in the summer before the Fourth of July,” Fox said. “There is no cost or advance registration. We will have bouncy houses and giant board games for kids.”

The Miamisburg Community band and This Side Up will perform. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at 10 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

“I think it’s kind of unique; you typically don’t hear of a business, let alone a family business that has gone through four generations, that stayed in business,” Fox said. “Statistically, most family businesses only go to the second generation. I don’t think my father and grandfather anticipated this would happen.”

Fox started working for the company when he was young, and took over in 2010.

“There is an old school charm when you walk into our business,” Fox said. “We plan to modernize to keep up with current trends. Our business model (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it) has worked for 100 years.”
