Greene County Environmental Services and Greene Soil and Water Conservation District will host a tire amnesty collection on March 24.
Costs will be minimal if residents recycle tires during this amnesty collection. Cost per tire is 50 cents per car or light truck tire; $2 per semi tire; and $5 per tractor or implement tire.
Tires on and off rims will be accepted. Payment, cash or check, must be made at the drop-off.
It is illegal, in Ohio, to dump whole tires in a landfill.
The program is for Greene County residents only and not intended for businesses such as tire shops.

Career center holds open house
The Greene County Career Center will hold its annual open house and chili supper Jan. 21.
The free event from 5 to 7 p.m. provides an opportunity for prospective students and their families to learn more about the school’s programs and services.
The career center offers career-technical programs and academic instruction for high school juniors and seniors. Main campus programs include career training in automotive, carpentry, cosmetology, culinary arts, digital media, equine science, food and hospitality, and welding and metal fabrication, among others
The open house will allow visitors to see each of the school’s career-technical programs and meet the teaching staff. Representatives from the admissions office will be in the cafeteria to answer questions, and computers will be available for students and parents who wish to complete an application for the 2016-17 school year.
Information about college scholarships, free college credit and industry certifications will also be available. Clark State Community College and Sinclair Community College representatives will be on hand as well.
