The city of Beavercreek Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled Party in Your Parks events for the summer.
The first one is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. June 26 at Grangeview Acres Park, 2816 Blythe Court. Staff will be on hand organizing games and activities.
Other Party in Your Parks will be: July 10 (Summerfield Park, 1789 Stedman Lane); July 24 (Virgallito Park, 2569 Lantz Road); and Aug. 7 (Merrick Park, 3179 Creekside Drive).

City announces road closure next week
The city of Fairborn has announced that a section of roadway in front of Fairborn Primary School, 4 W. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, will be closed off to traffic beginning at 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 16.
All eastbound traffic will be routed to Ironwood Drive onto Funderburg Road, and then to the Five Points intersection for through traffic. Westbound traffic will be maintained throughout the project.
The roadwork involves excavation, removal of damaged asphalt, and complete permanent base repair and paving. Anticipated project completion is Thursday, June 19, or Friday, June 20, weather permitting.

Greene County History Week events planned
The Greene County Ohio Historical Society will celebrate Greene County History Week from June 22-27, beginning with a proclamation from the Greene County commissioners.
History Week’s aim is to educate the public about Greene County’s history and why it is important, and to provide history-related groups with an opportunity to show the public what they do and why these organizations are important in preserving local history.
The main event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, at the Greene County Ohio Historical Society complex, 74 W. Church St., Xenia. There will be demonstrations and exhibits, including blacksmithing, quilting, rope-making and the Wright B Flyer Simulator.
Earlier in the week, the society’s Railroad Display Committee will have the caboose open at Xenia Station, as well as the model railroad at the Carriage House museum. Tours of the Jamestown Opera House and Beavercreek’s Wartinger Park are also planned. All events are free and open to the public.
