Family Dollar robber drops cash as he flees Dayton store

A man who held up a Family Dollar store tonight at gunpoint was dropping cash as he fled.

The suspect pointed a black handgun at the cashier around 9:15 p.m. and grabbed cash out of the register, which he dropped on the floor and the ground outside the business at 1028 N. Gettysburg Ave. in Dayton, employees said. The suspect was described as a man in his mid-20s who stood 6 feet, 3 inches and weighed 200 pounds who was wearing a black sweatshirt, white face mask, blue jeans and white tennis shoes, according to police.

He fled the store to the west. A Dayton K-9 tracked the suspect but was not able to find him.

FIRST REPORT

Police were called tonight to a report of an armed robbery at a local Family Dollar store.

The robbery was reported around 9:15 p.m. at the store, 1028 N. Gettysburg Ave. No injuries were reported.
