Highway ramp near Wright-Patterson closed until end of July

The on-ramp from Ohio 844 to northbound Ohio 444 will be closed for most of July.

Starting Monday, the northbound ramp closed. It is scheduled to reopen on July 20, said Ohio Department of Transportation District 8 spokeswoman Kathleen Fuller.

The on-ramp is closed so that ODOT can work on the bridge deck there. The project will also include some paving work.

The bridge is one of nine others being worked on this summer. The entire project will cost about $2.6 million, Fuller said.

Complete General Construction is the contractor for the bridge preservation project.

While the ramp to northbound State Route 444 is closed, traffic will be detoured via University Drive, Col. Glenn Highway and West Dayton-Yellow Springs Road.

The ramp from University Boulevard to northbound 844 will also have to be closed due to poor sight conditions caused by the construction. There are message boards near the ramp to alert drivers.

In addition to the ramp closures, there will be single-lane restrictions on S.R. 844 North at the overpass.

All of the work there is anticipated to be completed by July 20.

ODOT is also repaving State Route 444 between Parkwood Drive and Dayton Drive in Fairborn. That project will cost $1.46 million and is scheduled to be finished this fall, according to ODOT.
