Historic Downtown Lebanon director resigns

LEBANON — The head of Historic Downtown Lebanon Inc., a non-profit promotional organization for the downtown area, has left the organization for personal reasons.

Candace Lee, the director of HDLI, has stepped down from her position in order to return to her home in northern Georgia and be closer to her family, according to HDLI board president Jim Bliss. The parting was amicable, Bliss said.

“She was a wonderful hire who did a super job here,” Bliss said. “The pull of her family was too great. It was a sad parting for us.”

Lee had filled the position for the past 16 months.

Linda Osterman has been named the interim director, Bliss said. Osterman has previously volunteered with the organization and worked with Lee to learn about the role prior to Lee’s departure, Bliss said.

“It was about as smooth a transition as you could imagine,” Bliss said. “We didn’t waste a day.”

Osterman had previous experience with both sales and working with non-profit organizations, which made her a good fit for the position, Bliss said.

HDLI is a nonprofit organization geared toward promoting Lebanon’s downtown while preserving its historic heritage and using that history as a selling point. The program has been in operation since 2008. Lee, who came on board in April 2010, was the organization’s second executive director.
