Historic streetcar built in Dayton moved in place at new Carillon Park building

A historic streetcar built in Dayton was just moved today to the center of a new building coming to Carillon Park.

The 1903 Barney and Smith Company car will set in the middle of Culps Cafe.

Park leaders say this piece of history won’t be like the others.

“It’s not something like ‘here’s the artifact please don’t touch it.’ This is one that’s right in the middle of” the building,” said Brady Kress, president and CEO of the Carillon Park District.

Culps Cafe also will have a 20th Century soda fountain.

The streetcar was restored in a space owned by the Dayton RTA.
