Homeless Indiana man who jumped from train in Shelby County now in fair condition

Loren Ross, the homeless Indianapolis man who jumped from the train in Shelby County is now listed in fair condition, according to a Miami Valley Hospital spokesperson.

FIRST REPORT:

A homeless Indianapolis man hopped aboard an eastbound freight train on Wednesday.

More than 150 miles later in Ohio, the train slowed enough that 34-year-old Loren Ross jumped from the locomotive in the Shelby County village of Pemberton.

He suffered head and arm injuries in that jump, and also severe hypothermia.

He laid along the tracks screaming for help until a neighbor discovered him about 90 minutes later.

Tonight, Ross is listed in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
