We are taught that patience is a virtue, and yet humans are hardwired to want instant gratification. That’s why it’s nice when something comes along that satisfies our needs and wants with no waiting.

Introducing Hoopla Digital, a new service offered to Washington-Centerville Public Library cardholders.

So what’s all the, er, hoopla? Imagine being able to instantly access thousands of popular music albums, TV shows, movies and audiobooks with your smartphone. Yep, you read that right. No wait lists. No charge. Just a lot of free digital content, available via a free app. And now you know why we are so excited.

Hoopla is also easy to use. Simply download the app, create an account (you’ll need your library card number) and begin browsing the awesome collection of titles from major Hollywood studios, record companies and publishers. One-click borrowing and automatic check-in make it easy to checkout and return items. You can check out up to 10 titles a month and titles check out for three days to three weeks, depending upon the format. New titles are added all the time, so check back for new releases.

Hoopla compliments the library’s existing collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMusic and eZines. The growth in digital offerings is in direct response to demand for “on demand” content. Access Hoopla and other digital titles by visiting www.wclibrary.info.

If you need assistance getting started, our library staff is happy to help. Give us a call at 433-8091 or 435-3700.
