JCPenney at Fairfield Commons closure unexplained

UPDATE @ 9:23 p.m.: Police and store officials have offered no explanation about what led to the abrupt closing of the JCPenney at the Mall at Fairfield Commons.

We’ve talked with one man who said his son saw police officers taking a man from the store in handcuffs. He was wearing all camouflage clothing.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

UPDATE @ 7:55 p.m.

Employees are allowed back inside JCPenney after the store was closed for nearly two hours.

FIRST REPORT

JCPenney is closed tonight at the Mall at Fairfield Commons.

The store at 2727 Fairfield Commons Blvd. was evacuated around 6 p.m. but the rest of the mall was not affected, a mall spokeswoman said.

According to witnesses, there were numerous police cars outside the store.

Beavercreek police dispatch would not say why the store was closed. We are on the way to the scene and will update this report as we learn details.
