Joe Morgan Honda plans ‘big time’ festivities for grand opening

MONROE — To celebrate the official grand opening of his local auto dealership, former baseball player Joe Morgan has planned a celebration the week of May 12.

Events are scheduled for May 12-15 at the dealership at 176 Garver Road on the Warren County side of Monroe. The week will include Morgan presenting checks to support Little League baseball teams in Middletown and Lebanon, said Dick Lange, general manager of the dealership.

Officials from Honda in California and Ohio are expected to be on hand. More activities are in the work, Lange said.

“We’re going to have a big time,” Lange said.

The more than 28,000-square-foot dealership located on 4.5-acres of land just south of Treasure Aisles — formerly known as Turtle Creek Flea market, off Ohio 63 and Interstate 75 — opened its doors to the public Nov. 22, 2010.

Morgan, a former Cincinnati Reds second baseman and a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, is majority owner of the business.
