Branch & Bone Artisan Ales was named this week as the "Best New Brewer" in Ohio by RateBeer.com.

Each year, RateBeer — an online forum for craft-beer enthusiasts since 2000 — recognizes the best and highest-rated new brewers, beers and breweries by region and country. The 2019 Ohio award for best brewery and best beer both went to Hoppin’ Frog in Akron.

The “Best New Brewer” award “was a pleasant surprise, and we are flattered to have been recognized in a field of our peers,” said Brett Smith, co-founder and brewer at Branch & Bone.

Branch & Bone’s brewery and taproom opened in June 2018 at 905 Wayne Ave. It specializes in wild-fermentation and mixed-fermentation beers.
