OinkADoodleMoo Barbecue operates four other restaurants in the Dayton area: in Kettering, Clayton, downtown Dayton and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
None of the other locations serves alcohol or offers live music, however. OinkADoodleMoo & Brew will have a full-service bar and musical entertainment, ranging from acoustic acts during the week to karaoke on Friday nights and to live bands on Saturday nights, owner Steven Meyer told us when he announced plans for the new concept.

A locally owned and independent barbecue chain will open a new-concept restaurant, pub and music venue in a Miamisburg space that has housed a pub for more than four decades.
The new venture will be called "OinkADoodleMoo & Brew," and it is coming this fall to the former Dark Horse Tavern space at 209 Byers Road in Miamisburg.

Two pubs, the Thirsty Frog Saloon and its successor, The Frog Pond, operated in the space near the I-75/Ohio 725 interchange over the last several months, but The Frog Pond closed in recent weeks. The Dark Horse Tavern operated in the space for 12 years before shutting down in April 2018. It originally housed an Oregon Express location and, later, The Byers Inn Restaurant and Tavern.

But the space soon will be reborn under Steven Meyer, owner of OinkADoodleMoo Barbecue, which operates four other restaurants in the Dayton area: in Kettering, Clayton, downtown Dayton and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Plans call for the new pub to serve lunch and dinner seven days a week.
“I’m making a significant capital investment in the property,” Meyer said. “We will have everything that everyone would expect from an OinkADoodleMoo, plus alcohol and some additional menu items.”

The establishment will offer table service and will be family-friendly, Meyer said. There will be seating for 219, including about 150 in the dining room. An upstairs room that seats about 75 will be reserved for private parties and events, the OinkADoodleMoo owner said. Delivery will be available via DoorDash. Meyer said he expects to hire 20 to 25 people prior to opening.

“My goal is to be open in September, although that’s an aggressive goal,” Meyer said.
The opening will mark a return to Miamisburg for OinkADoodleMoo, which closed its small restaurant at 40 N. Main St. in downtown Miamisburg in October 2018 after nearly three years. Meyer said at the time he would look for a better location to open a new restaurant in the city.

OinkADoodleMoo was founded in 2009 with the opening of an Englewood restaurant that later relocated to the Randolph Plaza in Clayton. Meyer has a wealth of restaurant experience: He was one of the first franchisees of Penn Station East Coast Subs, and served as managing partner of Longhorn Steakhouse and as area developer and operating partner for Cici’s Pizza.
