The pastors of David’s United Church of Christ will be out in the church’s parking lot during rush hour drive times Ash Wednesday as part of its ninth annual ashes-to-go offering.

Ashes-to-go is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.; noon to 1 p.m.; and 5 to 6 p.m. at the church, 170 W. David Road in Kettering.

“We’ll meet folk outside in the parking lot, and they don’t even have to get out of their cars,” senior pastor the Rev. Brian Q. Newcomb stated in a release. “We’ll impose the ashes with a word of blessing for people as they enter this season of preparation and hope, and then hand them a card with a prayer to use in the days to come. It’ll be brief, but we hope helpful.”

The church also will have a regular Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m., including special music from the church’s chancel choir.
