Kettering man dies in I-71/75 crash in Northern Kentucky

A Kettering man was killed and two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident along Interstate 71/75 in Northern Kentucky early Wednesday morning, Aug. 25.

Florence police say Rashid Muner, 50, of Kettering, was southbound on I-71/75 near mile marker 176, about 15 miles south of Cincinnati, just before 1 a.m. when a multi-car collision led to his death.

Florence Sgt. Tom Grau said police are still investigating the crash, but it appears there was an initial collision that caused Muner’s 2003 Chrysler Concorde to come to a stop in the left lane of the highway. Muner apparently stepped out of the vehicle and then was hit by another southbound Hyundai Accent driven by Jeremy Lee, 18, of Chandler, Ariz.

Muner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lee and his 19-year-old passenger, Brandi Watt, of Cape May Courthouse, N.J., were taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Muner was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There were cars all over, skid marks all over; this was not a simple rear-ender” Grau said. “We’re still trying to piece it together and looking for a few more witnesses. We had three cars with damage, but there may have been another car involved.”

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Florence Police Department at (859) 647-5420.
