Local synagogue to add more security after Pittsburgh shooting

The shooting in Pittsburgh has at least one temple in Miami Valley adding more security.

News Center 7's James Buechele was live in Washington Twp. tonight talking with one of the Rabbis at Temple Beth Or about the extra steps they'll be taking.

Rabbi Ari Ballaban said Saturday’s news of the shooting that left 11 dead in Pittsburgh synagogue touched many people in his congregation.

“We have members who’ve had family occasions in that synagogue. We have people who grew up at that synagogue before moving to this part of the country.”

More than 60 children will attend Sunday school tomorrow morning so Rabbi Ballaban reached out to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and they said they’re willing to stay throughout the day.

“They’re committed to making sure that all of our members and our families feel safe when they’re in our building.”
