Lowe’s awards $4,000 in tools

PIQUA — Lowe’s Home Improvement arrived Feb. 3 on the Upper Valley JVS campus with $4,000 of Skils tools for the Building and Grounds program.

Representing Lowe’s was Ed Thornhill, commercial sales manager; Mike Conn, sales manager in Troy; and Dave VanDegrift, sales specialist in Troy. The three delivered the wide array of power tools during the juniors morning lab.

Frank Segreti, Building and Grounds instructor, said he was overwhelmed and very appreciative of the donation that will allow each student to have dedicated use of tools during lab.

“We’ve never been able to do that before,” he said. Students also expressed their appreciation and plan to put the Skils tools to the test right away.

The Building and Grounds class is currently working on a construction project that requires them to work from blueprints to construct a full bath. To complete the assignment students will be framing, installing drywall, electrical, plumbing, ceramic tile, trim and finish work.

Segreti and Kyle Stager, program paraprofessional, also expressed their appreciation to Dave VanDegrift for his service on the Building and Grounds program Advisory Committee.
