“He lost consciousness several times at the scene,” the sergeant said.
Depue was evaluated at Wilson Memorial Hospital, where is is stable condition.
The rig was taken from the scene to a tow yard, Witcher said.
The crash remains under investigation. The Ohio Department of Transportation will repair the section of guardrail.
UPDATE @ 7:21 p.m.: A semitrailer drove off the right side of I-75 North just south of Sidney, continued down a ravine and ended up about 100 yards short of the Great Miami River.
The driver was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney. The condition of the driver is not immediately known, according to an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper on scene.
The trailer was empty and the patrol is trying to figure out what led to the crash that left the rig in high grass just north of Kirkwood Road and alongside River Road, about 8 miles south of Sidney.
A wrecker has been dispatched to right the rig.
Traffic on the interstate, halted for a brief time because of the accident, has resumed as normal speeds.
FIRST REPORT
A tractor trailer crashed into an embankment on Interstate 75 North at mile marker 87, near the Sidney exit Tuesday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Traffic is backed up, but lanes are not closed, the patrol said.
