Miami County Medicaid, food stamp fraud case moving to pretrial hearing

A Miamisburg woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday in a Miami County court to three felony charges accusing her of Medicaid fraud, illegal use of food stamps and falsification.

Cherie R. English, 39, formerly of Tipp City, was indicted this month by a county grand jury on the charges investigators said took place between June 6, 2017, and Aug. 29, 2017. The amount stolen was $9,518, according to the county prosecutor's office.

The indictment claims English knowingly made a false or misleading statement to apply for the Medicaid program, possessed or transferred supplemental nutrition program benefits and made a false statement with the intention of committing theft.

English was released on a recognizance bond following arraignment in county Common Pleas Court. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for July 2.
