Two Meet the Candidates nights will be held Feb. 23 and 24 in Troy because of the number of candidates on the March 15 ballot.
On Feb. 23, 15 Republican candidates for the 8th District Seat in the U.S. House of Representatives have been invited to speak at a forum at Troy Junior High School, 556 N. Adams St., at 7:30 p.m. The forum will last 90 minutes.
On Feb. 24, Republican candidates for Miami County commissioner, sheriff and prosecutor will be featured along with the Troy schools levy. This forum also will be held at the Junior High School beginning at 7:30 p.m. It also will be for 90 minutes.
Candidates for sheriff are Chris Anderson, Steve Cooper, Dave Duchak and Paul Reece; for prosecutor, Tony Kendell and Mel Kemmer; for one commission seat, John “Jack” Evans and Cynthia Lillicrap; and the second commission seat, Richard Cultice and Greg Simmons.

Historical society hosting genealogy workshop
The Miami County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold its 21st Annual Routes for Roots Workshop on March 19 at the Fort Piqua Plaza Conference Center in downtown Piqua.
Advance registration made by March 7 is $15. The cost for walk-ins will be $20. Registration forms are available at the Piqua Public Library Local History Department and downloadable on the MCHGS’s Facebook page. Forms also will be available starting Feb. 8 at www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ohmchgs.
