Edison Community College’s Library is launching a new “Food for Fines” program this summer.
The program offers amnesty for long-overdue materials, in exchange for a donation of food. Each item donated equates to $1.
The donated food will be turned over to the Bethany Center in Piqua.
The library asks that donations include only shelf-stable foods, such as canned fruits, vegetables and meats, soups, cereals, boxed meals, pasta, peanut butter and jelly. Home-canned items, opened foods or foods past their expiration dates will not be accepted.
Collection boxes are set up at the main desk at the Edison Library, 1973 Edison Drive, Piqua.
Students can find out the amount of their outstanding fines by calling 937- 778-7950. STAFF REPORT
