Law enforcement in Miami County kicked off their annual Click It or Ticket campaign during an event Tuesday at the Upper Valley Career Center in Piqua.
The event began with honoring Tippecanoe High School in Tipp City with the highest percentage of seat belt usage this year among all the high school drivers.
Area law enforcement conducted recent random seat belt checks at all the high schools and Tipp City had the highest with a 97.5 percent usage rate.
Nationally in 2017, over 10,000 people were killed in passenger vehicle crashes who weren’t wearing seat belts.
Law enforcement says buckle up, don’t drink and drive, and don’t be distracted.
