Michael Engle appointed to Xenia City Council

XENIA — The Xenia City Council announced the appointment of Michael D. Engle to its ranks Tuesday afternoon.

Engle was appointed to fill the spot left when Council President Patricia L. Felton resigned in December due to health reasons.

Engle was one of five candidates interviewed for the job. Engle, who was appointed to fill a vacancy on the council from February 2006 through December 2007, will be sworn in during Wednesday’s meeting. Engle will serve until his term expires Dec. 31, 2011.

Since last January, Engle has served on Xenia’s Civil Service Commission, a spot he will relinquish with his appointment. Engle is a 24-year employee at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and currently is chief of the Special Access Program Management Office in the National Air & Space Intelligence Center.

In his application, Engle wrote: “I am a 22-year resident of Xenia and have fully invested myself in the community and to serving the needs of Xenia’s citizens. (My) Appointment to City Council would enable me to directly serve the City and her citizens through the provision of my substantial skills in strategic planning and personnel management. It would be an honor and a privilege to serve in that capacity again.”

In a press release, the council said it appreciates all those people who applied for the vacancy but said due to Mr. Engle’s experience, he was the best candidate.
