The Miami Twp. Police Department has promoted an officer and hired two others.
Jason Etter has been promoted to sergeant, replacing Jason Kramer, who took a job with the Kettering Police Department after 11 years with the township. Etter, who has worked with the township for 15 years, will be paid $33.60 an hour, Miami Twp. Police Chief Ron Hess said.
The department has also hired Sean Powell and Craig Sanders as officers. Powell is a graduate of Vandalia Butler High School who served in the Army from 2008-14. Sanders is a Lebanon High School grad with a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University. Both Powell and Sanders will earn $26.62 an hour.

Loan to help business move to business park
A loan to help relocate a Monroe firm to the city has been approved.
The $30,000 loan to The Woodworking Shop LLC will assist that company’s move to the Mound Business Park. The loan, approved recently by Miamisburg City Council, will help the company occupy 27,725 square feet on 4.8 acres at to 1195 Mound Road, city records show.
The deal would bring the company’s eight jobs to the park with the promise to add five more by next year and give the business further room to expand as warranted, officials said. The 13 jobs would translate into a payroll of about $400,000 annually, according to the city
The company, specializing in commercial and residential cabinetry, was started by Mark Sams on his family farm in 2001 and has operated a shop that is 7,500 square feet, according to its website. STAFF REPORT

Park district to host 10th Annual Big Rig Gig
Children of all ages are invited to participate in the Centerville-Washington Park District’s 10th Annual Big Rig Gig from 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, May 2. This free event takes place at Oak Grove Park, 1790 E. Social Row Road.
This year’s 10th anniversary event will feature a monster truck bounce house, trackless train rides and refreshments available for purchase from Kona Ice. Featured vehicles will include a fire truck, ambulance, S.W.A.T. truck and wheel loader, to name a few.

Honor Flight Dayton set for Saturday
An Honor Flight Dayton will take place on Saturday, May 2, at the Dayton International Airport. Participants wishing to welcome home approximately 100 veterans from their one-day flight to Washington should arrive by 10 p.m.
The veterans are expected to arrive at 10:30 p.m.
They will also be greeted by a Military Guard of about 200 United States Air Force personnel, including the Color Guards of the United States Air Force, Air Force Junior ROTC, and the Miami Valley Young Marines.
