Montgomery Co. court ready for same-sex licenses

Montgomery County Probate Court is preparing to issue marriage licenses to all couples should it become law following a ruling expected later this month.

A possible outcome of the U.S. Supreme Court Case Obergefell v. Hodges, is that Ohio probate courts will be required to issue licenses to same-sex couples. A decision is expected at the end of the month.

The county probate court has planned for necessary software enhancements so all marriage license applications will be processed without delay. Also, additional staff will be available, if necessary, to issue more licenses than usual, according to a release from the probate court.

The court is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, visit the court website, www.mcohio.org/probate.
