More Dayton-area restaurants are reopening their dining rooms this week

The waves of restaurant dining-room reopenings are diminishing, but there are still several such reopenings scheduled for this week, June 15-21.

Gov. Mike DeWine and state health officials lifted their mandatory shutdown of all dine-in services, which began March 15, on May 21, and many restaurants and pubs began serving diners that very night. But large numbers of restaurant owners decided to wait until after the Memorial Day holiday, and some chose to wait until mid-June. A  handful have not yet announced their reopening plans.

Here’s a partial list of restaurants and pubs that will reopen their dining rooms this week after taking steps to protect the health of diners and employees.

MONDAY, JUNE 15

-- Carillon Brewing Company and Culp's Cafe, both on the grounds of Dayton History's Carillon Park, reopened June 15, with normal hours of operation. The Carillon Brewing Company is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to  9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Culp's Café is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

-- Frisch's Big Boy: opened dining rooms in the chain's Bellbrook, Sidney, Liberty/Fairfield and Towne Mall (Franklin) locations on Monday, June 15.

-- Giordano's Pizza: The Chicago-based pizza chain's first location in the Dayton area, across from the Mall at Fairfield Commons, opened its dining room Monday.

-- Thai 9: This Thai and sushi destination in Dayton's Oregon District opened today, June 15, with its regular lunch and dinner hours. Indoor and outdoor dining in available with appropriate spacing in place.

TUESDAY, JUNE 16

-- Wheat Penny Oven and Bar: The restaurant on Wayne Avenue in Dayton will open for dine-in services Tuesday. Call 937-496-5268 for reservations.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17 

-- Frisch's Big Boy: The Cincinnati-based chain will open locations on Colonel Glenn Highway in Fairborn, and in Franklin, and well as a location in Fairfield.

FRIDAY, JUNE 19

-- Corner Kitchen: The Oregon District restaurant reopens for dinner hours with a new counter-service business model and a revamped menu.
