There has been no word from police about the one victim who ran from the multiple-vehicle accident at Salem and Delaware avenues Wednesday afternoon. Dayton Police Lt. Andrew Gillig said the female victim who fled the scene likely did not need medical attention.

There also has been no word about the condition of the male who suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident.

The female who ran was one of four people in the sedan police believe ran a red light and caused the collision, police said. The others in the car suffered serious injuries, police said.

Two other males were in the sedan, but there is no word on their injuries.

Lt. Gillig said speed may have been an issue as witnesses have told police the sedan was "going pretty fast and disregarded the red light [at Salem and Delaware] and hit rush hour traffic."

The timing of the traffic lights between Salem and a block away at Cornell Drive is staggered, which can cause problems for some drivers unfamiliar with the intersections.

Gillig said the people in the other vehicles involved -- a pickup truck and second sedan -- were not injured. Those vehicles ended up in a front yard off Salem Avenue.

The police investigation kept Salem Avenue closed for several hours.
