Oakwood to fill council seat

Oakwood City Council is seeking applications to fill a vacant seat on city council created by the passing of Councilman Stanley Castleman.

To apply for the vacant position on council, a person must have lived in the city of Oakwood for at least two years prior to the time of appointment and must be a registered elector. The appointment will be made at the June 2 council meeting.

In accordance with the Oakwood City Charter, council will appoint a replacement to serve until Dec. 31, 2015. The person council appoints would have the opportunity to run in November 2015 for a full four-year term beginning Jan. 1.

Residents can obtain an application at the city building on Park Avenue, contacting the clerk of council’s office or by downloading the application from the city’s website.
