OH-72 in Greene Co. to be closed for several hours after semi crash, fire

UPDATE @ 7:40 a.m: Ohio 72 will be closed for several hours between Federal Road and U.S. 42 after a semi-truck crashed and caught fire early this morning, officials say.

The driver was heading north on OH-72 when he lost control and went off the side of the road. The truck then rolled on its side, knocked down a power pole, and burst into flames.

The truck was carrying loads of flowers.

The driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

We will continue to monitor for when the road reopens.

INITIAL REPORT

Ohio 72 is still closed in Greene County after a semi went off the side of the road, rolled onto its side and caught fire Thursday morning.

The crash was reported around 5:15 a.m. on Ohio 72 between Federal and U.S. 42., per initial reports.

The driver was able to escape and call 911 before the semi-tractor trailer caught fire.

Firefighters were unable to extinguish the fire right away due to downed power lines. DP&L were called to the scene as a result.
