Pedestrian hospitalized after being hit by car in Dayton

Crash reconstruction units are investigating a serious crash involving a pedestrian on West Siebenthaler Avenue in Dayton early Tuesday morning.

The crash was reported near the intersection West Siebenthaler Avenue and Philadelphia Drive around 6:45 a.m.

The pedestrian, who was not identified, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Previous reports indicated they suffered serious injuries, however police said the condition of the victim was unknown.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, however police have ruled out excessive speed, road conditions, alcohol and distracted driving as factors in the incident.

Police said the crash reconstruction investigation will help determine who was at fault in the incident.

The driver who hit the pedestrian stopped after the crash and called 911, investigators said.
