Woman accused of murder in case of Dayton man found wrapped in plastic

UPDATE @ 1:59 p.m. (Oct. 1): Multiple charges have been approved against a woman accused in the shooting death of Timothy Truesdale, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office.

Jazzmon Brooks is charged with murder, felonious assault, gross abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and having weapons while under disability, according to the prosecutor’s office.

New details emerge in the shooting death of a Dayton man found in the bathroom of his apartment on Hunter Avenue this weekend.

The body of Timothy Truesdale, 40, was found on the floor and wrapped in plastic, according to a Dayton police report.

Police earlier said a person of interest is in custody.

A man and woman named in a report and 911 call are in the Montgomery County Jail.

Jazzmon Brooks, 36, who lived in the apartment with Truesdale, and Gary Houtz Jr., 43, of Dayton, are jailed on unrelated probation and parole violation charges.



Brooks and Houtz were both arrested Saturday, the day Truesdale’s body was found following a tip from a 911 caller.

Police have not said whether either of them was considered a person of interest in the homicide.

Timothy Truesdale, 40, of Dayton was shot in the torso and died from his injuries, according to the coroner’s office.

Truesdale was reportedly found around 4 p.m. inside the bathroom of a home in the 400 block of Hunter Avenue.

A 911 caller who reported Truesdale’s death said a woman shot him in fear for her life.

The caller, who said she just learned about the shooting from a friend, told police it happened about a week before her Saturday call.
