Man arrested after OVI crash into parked vehicles, pole in Troy

UPDATE @ 4: 20 a.m.:

One man is in custody after a car lost control and struck two parked vehicles and a pole on in Troy early this morning.

Randy Wick, 38, of Troy, is facing charges of OVI, failure to control the vehicle and leaving the scene of a crash.

According to Sgt. Dominic Burnside of Troy Police, officers responded to a call at 2:38 a.m. of a crash in the 700 block of Grant Street.

After investigation, Burnside said that Wick and another man were traveling south on Grant Street with Wick behind the wheel.

When the vehicle hit the railroad tracks, Wick lost control and the vehicle crashed into two unoccupied parked vehicles and a Dayton Power & Light pole. Both men got out of the vehicle and ran.

Burnside said that both men were caught after a brief foot chase.

Both Wick and the passenger sustained minor injuries, including an injury to Wick’s head, but both refused treatment. The passenger was released and will not be facing charges.

Burnside said that they believed the cause of the crash was a combination of speed and driving while intoxicated, as well as exercising poor judgement going over the railroad tracks.

Wick is set to be arraigned Monday morning.

Police are investigating a crash involving three vehicles and a light pole in the 700 block of Grant Street in Troy.
